FATHER DENIS
FATHER DENIS
I found in you, dear Denis, all my needs.
You gave me what's required for my pen,
and wrote beside my eyes your poems' lines,
which built in me the skills to draw my own.
I clearly see the views you gave my soul,
the priestly teachings that set my sight free
to soar in fields where love has sweetest taste
as vested in a robe of purest gold.
When you beheld that whom you dressed was apt,
and you got lame with age that needed aid,
you set your sail on oceans far and deep,
and left your work entirely unpaid.
