Business as Usual

Jeans jacket,
Skinned knee
You’d think you were a kid
Light makeup
Short black skirt
Tell a different story
Black purse
On your lap keeps
You safe as your skirt
Short, rides high
And I’m looking
Hoping for a glimpse
All I get are sleepy
Eyelids
And the feeling
You’ll tower over me
When you stand up
To leave the train
At south station?
Downtown crossing?
Business as usual say
Your white sneakers.
