Are Days So Long That Nothing Could Compare - Sonnet Four
Are days so long that nothing could compare,
That Summer's pass might stand akin to you?
For Summer’s night is seeming more aware,
To stand before, your subtle gifts review.
Inconstant way that seems to flee by night,
Gives rise, a tiger's clutch, a welcomed eye.
How deep the need to seek its shadowed rite.
How hard, the hungered need to seek reply.
For deep within, in fully taken line,
The words of poet's mouth must stand aside.
For deeper gifts will deeper rule divine,
That sends those gifts to deeper well's reside.
For day may bring a pale compare of love,
But in night comes compare of stars above.
