Judas' Kiss

So, tell me about you & this girl.
Well, you know it was like
Passion coming at you with a gun in one hand
And a hatchet in the other.
I was a bug trapped in amber.
It was intense,
A love hot like burning tires at night
And twice as bright.
Until we gave into the shadows of the rain
And when I let her go, I thought
You’ll be in my heaven.
Even now it is still nice to remember
Those moments that linger
And believe the best as long as
It is possible to believe the best.
Love sure does have a way of making you humble.
Without her I feel like I’m just
Living in the dark and the shade,
A shuttered life alone with hope
That there will be petals on the path
Back to her someday.
Do I still love her?
I smile, guilty as Judas’ kiss.
