Ever After

Happily ever after only happens in fairytales
No one can save the world and
Not everyone wants to be rescued
That is the fantasy of children’s books
We, on the other hand, live in the reality of this world
Where everyone struggles with difficulty
And we never get rid of our problems
We just exchange them for new ones
However, if good fortune decides to smile on us
And hope shines a light
We will meet that special someone
Who will love us unconditionally
They will remain by our side
Through thick and thin
Share our laughter and our pain
Support us through our tribulations
Be there to pick us up
And wipe away the tears
Find joy in the little things
These are the special ones
No matter if of humble or noble birth
Whether prince or pauper, knight or knave
Whether princess or damsel, commoner or peasant
These people. . .yes, these people,
Are cherished heroes in my book
