It's Just Not Fair
The smell of diesel fumes mixes uneasily
With the scent of hot dogs with mustard
Onion perfume and a distinct smell of hamburgers
And plastic cheese adds a certain something
The aroma of cotton candy wafts past in
Diabetic clouds of pink and white sugars
Your sense of smell now has multi-personality disorder
Trying to separate odours
Your vision is flooded initially your sight has a
Sensual breakdown so much brightness
So much going on gaudy colours, brightly
Coloured flashing lights, strobe and laser
My eyes adjust into a smile and genuine enjoyment
Of the nature of light in the dark
A circus clown painted on a metal wall has
A flashing nose, red of course, he beckons
My ears are lambasted with a myriad of
Multi-genre music explosion in my head
Madonna blares “like a virgin.” but she is so
Clearly not a virgin; not even close, mixes
Uneasily with Chuck Berries, “Johnny Be Goode.”
In addition, the House of Pain’s “Jump Around.”
All to loud competing into white noise
Dodgems, carousels, speedway, ghost train
The big wheel, hall of mirrors, slots go Ka-ching,
Firing range, hoop-la, hook a duck, raffle tickets,
Coconut shy, chairoplanes, mallet ring the bell,
Roustabouts shouting welcomes, “Come on in.”
Children crying to get on and when taken off
Screaming customers scream and almost cream
Pools of vomit chugged up by cavorting bellies
With hotdogs, cotton candy, strangely carrots
All senses overload nearing mental breakdown
Being dragged under protest to the fairground
Is just not fair
