Pain Remains

Extreme pain can fracture the mind
stop the clock, freeze time
and the medications don't help
comfort is temporary and at a high price

darkened lenses
medicate to medicate
symptoms bring more pills
 
endless physicians
waiting hours and hours
beaurocratic nightmares  
no way to pay the bills
 
keep the thoughts moving
leave the pharmaceuticals  
reach out to others
suffering abounds
 
always someone hurting
try to lessen their strain
not to stand out
for it is you that will gain
 
breathe in and breathe out
again and again
tomorrow will bring more pain
as long as there's life
