Cerebral Considerations

A slow fade may be coming
in rescue
of the diminished capacity
to socialize
beyond the necessary
ways we keep employed

That sound of genuine laughter
and the excitement of common interests
- seeing pupils transform

It gets so lonely in this head,
despite those many spills

The risk of addiction
- any of them
lurk at my shoulders
the more comfortable
I become in a space

And I'm addicted
to this uncensored ink
so lovingly offered up
for my curious blues

I've crept into the comfort
for over a year,
stoking a formula
to entice
the senses

Even if I should turn away,
you know I can't
because some days
the only acceptance
to be found
is in this sacred,
treasured place.
