Crosswalks

Impatiently inching
around that corner
to get the jump
on the light
only to knock her
into the concrete
that hard crack
of her skull
heard by those
on foot
running to her
lifeless body
only to be clipped
by another
paying no attention
to the unprotected pedestrian.
