as ice, as is
"You're not at all what I thought you'd be."
Well. Better or worse, I'd like to think
I'm rather honest.
At least on matters of the heart.
At least to myself.
Though, like any Iceberg,
I am visible only in part.
If only for the weight of what I am,
I am heavier than the water that holds me--
to a degree.
Obviously, the part that isn't
is the part you see
initially.
I hide not; it is simply my nature
to be hidden.
And though it is the nature of water
to conceal,
if your eyes have it in them to see,
there, in stunning clarity it shall reveal.
Or less fortunately, when the quaking and the breaking
of some grand vessel under your feet
betrays the depth, the mass, the magnitude
of me.
Tread carefully.
