predation

she
grins as i unravel,
open my ribs to her
lovingly.

she
kisses me
as though i don't feel
her teeth.

i try not to grin in return.

she
dives.

into the dark pathways
i reveal to her.
takes my silks and silvers
down the tunnels
of the Tree.

she
makes as if she devoured
me.

there
at the very bottom of
her quickly-fleeing hunger,

i wait
with my unsated own.
lovingly.
