A photo among portraits
A spark amongst the flames
The black behind the white
The darkness within the light
I just don't fit in
They judge me before they can know me
But that doesn't mean you can disown me
They put me down
It feels like I'm being thrown to the ground
My heart is so warm
But theirs is so cold
They make me just want to let go

This world is so cold
Cold as the chain around my throat

Author's Note

I won�t this song a few years ago. It was my first year in the Navy. I had a friend who was just one of those guys that just couldn�t fit in no matter how hard he tried. One night while we were out at sea he came up to me. Told me if things weren�t gonna change soon he was gonna do something stupid. I had the Midnight watch that night so all I cared about was going to bed, and I blew him off when he needed me most. We found him later after he hung himself from a Chainfall. I�ve never told anyone that he came up to me for help that night. I still feel guilty that I let him down when he needed me most. So I wrote this song from his perspective in life.
