The Place We Never Knew
The tears have dried under the pines.
A little winter clings to the breeze.
I see you wander through the trees
Of this place we never shared.
This land we never knew…
Is it a ghost, or is it you
Where the sun rises from the green
Of this place we’ve never seen?
Who is this man upon the hill?
Is it you with your voice so clear?
What has brought our spirits here?
I run across the graves into your arms,
Watch as the sky comes falling down.
Now the birds and stars are with us.
The seas are calm overhead.
All the blue of Heaven has fled.
The sun is nowhere to be seen
In this place where we have never been.
Just rising stars and our shared soul
Among the thousand moons that roll.
I kiss you and it is safe to cry,
You said we would never say goodbye.
You said we would never say goodbye.
