Dead in the Water

Seems I’m under water,
I’m sinking fast.
Not too sure how long
my breath will last.

The waters murky,
there’s weeds everywhere.
You’re on the bank,
I know I left you there.

So if you see me,
why aren’t you moving?
Can’t you hear me,
what are you doing?

I’m sinking further now,
and still you stand.
I don’t need much,
just give me your hand.

But you’re not there,
though it hasn’t been long.
I hope you’re getting help,
but I know I’m wrong.

I feel like I’ll die here,
and you just let it be.
Now I can’t even remember,
but didn’t you push me?

I can’t see much now,
it’s getting harder.
Now I need to breathe,
but in comes the water.

It’s all too much,
I choke and I spew.
My lungs fill up,
yet I still look for you.

It looks like you’ve left me,
all alone...
I’m drowning now,
I’ll never make it home.

You didn’t lend a hand,
didn’t even bother.
Just left me there,
dead in the water.
