God's Dance
Gods dance, as cities raise in flame
The nights with children fast asleep,
In dreams of pastel scenes proclaim,
Of Paradise, of Dresden keeps.
The smells of brazing flesh consume
Gods’ dance, as cities raise in flame.
Yet burned, the forests, cones resume,
And crows’ descent, the graves reclaim.
Once tears, now smiles, those lives acclaim,
The cries, that laughter, killed in flight.
God’s dance, as cities raise in flame
Can hide the coming day’s delight.
The meadows show their mustard Spring,
The finches match as golden same
The dead on alter pyres they sing,
Gods dance as cities raise in flame.
The nights with children fast asleep,
In dreams of pastel scenes proclaim,
Of Paradise, of Dresden keeps.
The smells of brazing flesh consume
Gods’ dance, as cities raise in flame.
Yet burned, the forests, cones resume,
And crows’ descent, the graves reclaim.
Once tears, now smiles, those lives acclaim,
The cries, that laughter, killed in flight.
God’s dance, as cities raise in flame
Can hide the coming day’s delight.
The meadows show their mustard Spring,
The finches match as golden same
The dead on alter pyres they sing,
Gods dance as cities raise in flame.
