Comet
He wears a mask of outward calm
A cool composure, undisturbed
He walks with a sure and measured gait
Steady on a nightmare avenue
He attempts to cadge some change
But meets only gazes, disinclined
To acknowledge his presence
To look him fully in the eye
He still moves on with dignity
Watching the sky and distant stars
A comet streaks against the dark
A counterpoint to passing cars.
A cool composure, undisturbed
He walks with a sure and measured gait
Steady on a nightmare avenue
He attempts to cadge some change
But meets only gazes, disinclined
To acknowledge his presence
To look him fully in the eye
He still moves on with dignity
Watching the sky and distant stars
A comet streaks against the dark
A counterpoint to passing cars.
