The Vibrant Dreams
A refined version of the real
Benign, replete with better days
These dreams offer sure comfort
To a conflicted, troubled mind
An entire family still alive
Thriving at the childhood home
A father not inclined to drink
And arrive home in despotic rage
Lovers no longer voyaged far
Still lingering, and warm inside
Do they recall the bygone nights
And absence of abject sorrow?
Far better the deepest sleep
Than what this day is apt to bring
But dreams fade, and dissipate
When I discern the morning's sting.

Re: Re. The Vibrant Dreams
Dreams, for me, are an escape, much needed. I can still face the day with some difficulty. Yet, I manage. Thank you JusTim.

I'm not a particularly brave man, so I take comfort in sleep, and am lucky not to have a surfeit of nightmares. Guess I'm lucky. Thank you for the kind words and inclusion in your RL!

When life is not what it should be, we make our idea of life come to us in our dreams. That's who the poet truly is. A singer of dreams that try to dissipate reality at its worst. I feel you my friend. Hugs

Thank you J. You're right in thinking that dreams are an idealized form of reality. Wishful thinking, or dreaming...

Bravo, Sir Thomas Crow! I know all too well the "sting of morning." That's a perfect description. I find that my now experienced mind generates much more fascinating and vivid dreams then when I was younger. This one's a lister.

The "sting of morning" struck me as particularly apt, too. I envy those who wake up content and ready to face the day. Dreams, or even just dreamless sleep, are a great escape. And good poetry, of course - like this one. Nice!

I suppose our dreams are an escape, Gahdess and brokentitanium . Without them we would be truly lost. My own dreams supersede reality and its niggling details. Thanks for the kind words from you both and RL listing, Gahdess!

I'm sorry to hear that, Brenda. My own dreams take a dark turn now and then, but I still prefer them to the real world, a personal escape. Thank you!

May you keep those beautiful dreams alive. Perhaps that's why I've loved the night sky so much..tranquility that comes. Too bad I don't really sleep, reality can be a bitch. Beautiful expression, dear Thomas

Thank you Pandora. My sleep (and dreams) can be erratic, but I still visit the my subconscious when the going gets rough. I lay here, maybe stare at the ceiling fan, until I'm out. This might be self-hypnosis, I suppose. Thanks again!
