Actually it is a bearing on the squirrel cage, which I already knew. However the furnace is nearly as old as I, sixty years plus, (the furnace, not me... I only can wish I were that new). Replacing the furnace would not be cost efficient at my age.
Part ordered, repair bill forthcoming. :-(((
