A Dying Flame

I watched a mound
of dry leaves burning
in the gathering dusk
a mesmerizing sight to behold
bright sparks dancing
to the soft caresses
of the evening wind

Golden flames sway
rising higher, a crescendo
in the fire concerto
smoldering and crackling
in the dusk
amber gold fire consuming
the dry wilted leaves into ashes

Bright flames soaring
fiery, full of passion
akin to the love we once shared
that consumed and burned us
in its blazing trail where we passionately danced trough its fire

The evening fell slowly
while the flames gradually died
little by little the flames diminished
like a diminuendo in a musical composition
fading softly into the night
leaving embers in its wake
a memory of the burning leaves

The burnt leaves was so much
like the love we shared that has died
It burned brightly in the beginning
but fading slowly like a dying flame
where only its memory remained in my heart
from the ashes of our love
