I Don't Celebrate Valentine's Day
I don't celebrate Valentines Day,
If you love someone, show them everyday,
If someone loves you, they shouldn't expect something special that day.
I don't celebrate Valentine's Day,
Valentine is my mortal enemy's last name, your life, I will allay,
The prices of related items are several times higher that exact day.
I don't celebrate Valentine's Day,
They look down on you, if you're single, or in love from afar, on that holiday,
Too much pressure is put on couples and crushes that darn day.
...And all the chocolate is on sale right after that day!

If you show love everyday then heightened celebrations are great
But if like so many slackers that just show love on this day then it's worthless

You know, no one ever looked down on me when I was single. Ever. My own mind was somewhat depressed my first Valentine's Day post divorce of a 20 year marriage. However, that was my mindset, not those who knew me. So that first year I transformed it into a Galafriend's Day! I celebrated all of my galfriends ( married, single, or if they were dating ) with candy and those kindergarten type cards, except mine were custom made for adults. Then I added my family as well. Then my co-workers. Then everyone I would come in contact with, e.g. - my mailman, the delivery guy, etc.
It became such FUN I never had those thoughts again, and it's been almost 20 years! To give to those who might be alone and had thoughts as I once die, it was a complete joy. It doesn't cost that much if you don't make it commercialized. Before I knew it, I was the one receiving unexpectedly from them!
Valentine's Day is a day of love whether single, married, dating, or engaged. It matters not. I use it to add a little joy into the lives of those I love or care about as close friends or acquaintances. The circle is never ending and comes home. But it's the joy of giving alone that wears the crown.
I do know the creeps you're referring to, who give out of obligation only and pay no mind tomorrow. But I hope you move into a screw that mindset and try what I did. I have loved and celebrated the day sense, and had many tell me it changed their POV as well.

I've got no one to celebrate St.Valentine's (Goddess of love or is that Venus) day with anyway, whether I liked it or not. lol. ;-)

I don't like Valentine's Day either ha ha single or not, it's just another commercial holiday so I really just don't enjoy it. Don't get me wrong, I love getting flowers but it means more on a random day because you thought of me than a day when you felt obligated. I'm glad someone else dislikes this day as well x
