Congressional Women in White

Before conception and gender,
there were cosmic forces
present and unproblematic
to our initiation and reception.

I currently relate as a female
but, on the scale of lifetimes
and solitary soul journey
of accumulated experience

I understand gender as a changeling.

Sometimes, we are created
balanced in both:
one sculpted on the outside
the other from the solar plexus.

We are yin and yang despite sex;
a recycled collective
of revolving deities who are
part of a wholly complete organism.

There is no doubt within myself
that despite the gender reading this poem,
this picture is me—
and also you.
