How nice of you to comment. I thought that real poets would think it a load of old rubbish!  But thinking of workable rhymes does not come easily. I love limericks, and over the years I have scribbled some very rude ones. But DUP does not seem to have a category for such triviality.

Just a bit of fun. It has been rattling about in my brain for a long time. There are so many potential ambiguities in English, I thought I'd play with one of them.

First things first, Welcome to the DUP, Ammonite.
Having read your profile in conjunction with your intro in the Welcome Party, I understand you are in the midst of finding an alternative use of time to previous endeavors, and wish you an enjoyed experience.

Since you have asked for Honest Critique, may I offer the following, (the only suggestion I have as to rhyme or rhythm), as it did cause a slight stumble as I read your poem. In S2, L2, the number of syllables used is 3, whereas I feel 4 would smooth out the rhythm. Perhaps, *and some on chairs*.  

As always it is the poets choice when considering what if any action is taken in regard to critique. Personally, I have made changes I felt improved the piece and ignored suggestions I felt were not needed.

All in all, I have enjoyed each of your posts to date and the wordplay displayed here, as I am also a fan of such, and hope to read more in the future.

Thanks for your general welcome, and many thanks for your thoughtful comment. You are probably right about the rhythm. I have an uncertain grasp of how others might read a poem and my way could be different from theirs. I have re-read my attempt at poetry and I'm not sure which I prefer. Can I think about it awhile and maybe learn more?

I you are most correct in how reading a poem in rhythm is different from person to person. When I write a poem, then read it, I have a certain rhythm in my mind which may not translate to another reader.
There are even times, when I read one of my older pieces and have to stop and find the rhythm I used when writing it. The same applies when I read another's, in that I may need to read it a few times before I catch the rhythm they were writing it in.

As to your limericks, there is a hashtag in the themes dropdown box for tagging them as such, just FYI, in case you have not discovered yet.

Once more, thanks for your constructive criticism. I now think you were right and have added a word to make the line scan better.
