trapescape

the devil had
a trap-set
for me
i lost my soul
to the frenzy
of the a cappella  band
whose rhythms consumed
my primordial reason

songs without words
flew me on silent wings
where Mendelssohn
had never
learnt to sing
cacophony
gave birth to aphony
and sax and sex
stood vexed
in lust’s annex
i played his game
he played my melody
i jammed with him
in perfect harmony

but when i
hit ground bass
and caught my elegy
on his broken g-string
i realized
the devil
had a trap
set for me
and i ran like hell…
