Coward
Trapped inside my cage of fear.
Pacing like a lion, yearning to escape
Reality is not as it seems
Smiling face, laughing out loud
It’s all so fake
Can’t you see me, I scream inside
No one hears my heartfelt cry
Someone save me from this hell I’m in
Burning and Rotting from the inside
Lives would be better in my demise
Taking me slowly is so much pain
I can’t be so lucky to end it swiftly
I’m a coward for not ending it all
I’m hurting everyone in my life

Kittykat, this was heart felt. I’ve had moments like this during my struggle with illness. We sometimes get our lows but it’s the highs we need to look forward too. I know! Harder to do than say, but always worth the struggle.

Depression and slowly dying is a daily struggle. Holding on to true hope and love gets you through the darkest of moments. Not a day goes by that the thought doesn't cross my mind. The difference is knowing I would not be the strong person I know I am if I ever acted on those thoughts and demons. Thank you for your encouraging words

The temptation to end it all has raised its head more than once but I have faced it down with faith and lived to enjoy another day, when you find the reasons are not what they were. Having seen more recent poems of yours I would not have asked Billy Snagg's question. Even the most creative geniuses had down times only to be reinvigorated - for example DYK that Handel was depressed, had survived a stroke, and was contemplating quitting England for his native Germany when he was given the task of composing the Messiah?
