Cancer

Do you realize what cancer is?
It’s not the sweet heartfelt commercials.
No one is paying your bills or fighting for you.
No one cares when you can’t come out.
Drs don’t care for you if they can’t get paid.
Pharmacies don’t give a damn if you are in pain.
Life goes on as you slowly die
And everyone keeps passing you by.
No one can help you because you can’t pay.
A few sympathetic smiles.
I’m praying for you are their words
As they continue to go on with their day
You push through every day
Take your mind off the pain
Children who don’t understand why mommy can’t come and play.
Mommy just missed another one of my games
They wonder how she could just sleep in again
Angels who wonder why mommy is crying.
Little do they know
She just got another denial letter.
You keep pursuing an answer
because your life will not end this way.

Author's Note
I'm a mom of two wonderful children. I have a rare blood disease and am in need of a transplant. Unable to work and in need of a bone marrow transplant. Because I can't pay the copays, deductibles and after care I am going to die.
