Hazel Eyes are Rare
From the day you entered my life
Purpose flooded in too
You were a make of me and another.
As a father
There is so much I can do
To improve your life
My job is to teach you
My job is to provide for you
My job is to put you first
My job is to protect you
My job is to build you up
This life came with no instructions
No answers
Just questions
And in the years i've watched you grow
I still find that you surprise me
You still became who you wanted to be
Regardless of my influence and wishes
And sometimes I know that I am only half of what you need. Who you need-
With questions only they could probabaly answer
I research and revise
Then present to you solutions
On the best reach of my power.
It kills me that I can't make things easier sometimes
I can't make friends for you
I can't pass your classes for you
I can't fix your mind when it aches
I can't bring certian people back
I can't fix your heart when it breaks
I wonder if i'm doing this right at all
In those small moments
When you're hurt and damaged
You open up and spill out bits of information that I may only see from the outside
As a father I know when to talk and more importantly when to listen. A virtue I learned along side you-
I built you up so strong.
To stand on your own.
To prosper once I've gone away
All I can do now is hope that you'll allow me to step in and do as a father does
Regardless of age or distance
You'll never fall. I've got you.
Now it's your turn to learn to let me in.
