(Her) Woodland Trust

When sheltered in reclusive darkened hall
it is easy to rub sandpaper against the grain
Standing solid like roman columns tall
solid as ash surrounds potential gain

A Woodland trust to be certain
stretching for miles on end
expansive and extensive planting
and protection towards a friend

Thick with innuendos within the forest deep
cracked crystal balls and readings
no longer roll off lips still bleeding
a pine perhaps in pleading
from a Preservation in sleep

wants and needs spin desires of freedom
while oaken fences remain in place
and if I didn't love the trees so much
I'd be burning down every space
of longer before I got here - growth

I lament with visitor's view
and espy all forms of the hidden
digging up where trees once grew
to discover the truths within.

Author's Note
The Woodland Trust thinks it is important to protect all native woods and trees for their benefits to people and wildlife and for their own intrinsic beauty.
Ancient woods and ancient trees are the ones needing the greatest amount of protection.
