Honesty for the Heartbroken

My generation has no soul.
We would rather slap a bandaid over a broken heart
In the form of a rebound fling
Or chainsmoking until we can't feel a thing.

Me, I'll do all that,
But not before shouting from the rooftops
Every moment he made me lose my breath,
And I'll pour out my tears like raindrops
For all the world to hear.

I wear it on my sleeve,
In a modern day walk of shame
Every day.
They scoff at the sad Facebook posts,
Sappy poetry, and mournful love songs.
However, what I feel is madness,
And only madness will do.

Fuck your poker faces
And your heartless fronts.
I will feel this agony
Until it runs me ragged,
And finally, I can say it haunts me
No more.
