Us
Life taken for granted
Gone unexpected
Loved ones left behind
Not understanding
“Pray for us!”
We say
But it’s us that’s killing us, or them controlling us
Or the mother’s and fathers that didn’t know how to raise us
Or our neighborhoods, school, friends, and environment
I don’t know where the blame lies, I know I don’t want any more of us to die
Who saves us
Who changes us
The answer is simple
We are the people the strong and proud
We don’t need saving by the government or anyone
We as a people united and positive will save us
