Remember:
Do you remember
When you called me your sunshine
I was the light haired child
Always smiling and making you smile
Wandering and ever curious
Through grandpa's orchard and even down the road
Do you remember
Your concern that autumn day
When I fell asleep in the barn doorway
The packing cloths had been pulled out
From around the well pump for repairs
I woke up from you calling me and ran to you, sleepy
Do you remember
The time you told me you were sorry
That you realized I needed you
I had to replace my parents with my brother
He hadn't fed or clothed me but
I needed more than that
I needed your love and attention
Do you remember
The time the strange man came with cookies
He said he was thirsty and tired
And out bound a curious girl
With light, curly hair and offered water
So we spoke, openly and bravely for a little girl
Do you remember
He told you I was kind
That you should be proud of me
That he would be proud of me
He said you had a good daughter
He hoped his own child grew up to be like me
Do you remember
All the times I tried
I wanted to be what you wanted
I tried so hard to be someone you would love
But I guess I screw it up
Too many piercings and no diploma
The fashion sense of a shoe found in a river
Nothing like the sister you get along with so much better
Will you remember
Any of the times I said I love you
Any of the times you said you love me
Any of the times I tried to prove it
Or will it all be mistakes and flunders and too many piercings
When you called me your sunshine
I was the light haired child
Always smiling and making you smile
Wandering and ever curious
Through grandpa's orchard and even down the road
Do you remember
Your concern that autumn day
When I fell asleep in the barn doorway
The packing cloths had been pulled out
From around the well pump for repairs
I woke up from you calling me and ran to you, sleepy
