Calm
It's an interesting thing to consider
And under even more interesting circumstances
The light of dawn
The depth of midnight
Held in lovers' arms
One by one
Dashed and trampled chances
Clarity of reflection
Equability of heartache
Hopefulness
Sanguine temptation
There's a certain temperature
Warming cool that
Spreads from your soul extended
A gratitude rebounding
Thanks to the incomparable kindness
Of a strange smile
Unexpected hello
Shattered loneliness
Disturbed darkness
Handing reaching out...

Someone
How the fuck
Did I ever let myself get caught up in all of this
All over again
It's like I can never learn
Hurt seems to have become
My reason for living
It's my daily bread
As soon as I think I'm over it
Here he comes
The next knight
Shining armor and all
A witty, sarcastic sense of humor
Brilliant eyes
And off I go
Swept into what is sure to become
The next agonizing defeat
Yet another chapter in my miserable memoirs
I'm always on the run
I know I have no time for this
It's always either my need to...

Truth, Fire, and Life
No one ever tells you
That love doesn't mean forever
That life can fade
Scratch and distort
That vows so easily bend
No one ever tells you
That love comes in different forms
That first and true
Soft and vibrant
Are so easily mistaken
No one ever tells you
That falling isn't simple
Sort of like living
Laughing and crying
What's easier isn't always best
No one ever tells you
This sort of thing doesn't come with instructions
It's the feeling in the pit of your stomach
And you know, just to yourself, when...

HATE, and Other Questions
What good would it do me to say that I cry
How would it help to admit to you that
The pain on days like this wells up into my throat
Silently my tears overflow and no one knows
Not even you can imagine how hard it is
Every time you see my face, does it hurt you?
Do you look into my eyes and recall the shine,
The sparkle of fire barely showing through,
Which ignited and smulders only for hopes of you?
How would it be to use of either of us
To tell you what you don't even want to hear
You called yourself obsessed
I said I love you

World on Fire (excerpt, part 1) - Need input/opinion/critique.
Working on a novel -- worried about the amount of detailing going into it. Too much? Too little? Not explained well? Something that you would/wouldn't continue reading?

Standing on the steps leading to a sharp, stone building, vaguely resembling a heathen church, he glanced back at the woman urging him on. Once Upon a Wind
They say that writing the first thing that comes to mind is called "off the top of your head." I strongly disagree. It feels more like taking a ladle and scooping up the black mush from the bottom, then throwing it at a piece of paper and praying that it turns into something that someone, somewhere, will understand. It reminds me of exploring, young hands into the depths of a murky pond, hoping to find tadpoles, but scared of stickers and stingers that await more in the back of children's minds than in the mossy layers.

Fading
Imagine us
Sitting on a square of golden sand
Watching time curve around us
Imagine us
Holding eachother forever
Just enjoying the seconds ticking
Slowly, slowly
Think of the joy
When we see the wonders changing
The curves flowing into one another
Forming new lives, new times
New eras, new generations
Sitting on our square of golden sand
Never ending space reaching before us
Reaching towards us
Reaching past us, and beyond
Beyond into the Somewhere that no one dares to think of
The Somewhere that holds all meaning...

Scratch and Burn
It's hard to get used to the fact
That no one will come to my rescue
I waited so long that it became my life
Spending every day waiting for you
To come and save me from this endless
Waking nightmare that I made for myself
The hole in my heart is infected
Before, it was just a hollow ache
It panged now and then with the pain of realizing
How far away I took myself from you
But now it's a burning pit of puss
Itch and scratch driving it deeper and deeper
I spent so long waiting for you
I spend so long waiting for you ...

Parking lot
Cold french fries
Thinking to myself
Of how alone this day really is
Every year I'm alone

Ever since I met you it's
Just time set aside by the world in general
For thinking of how I lost you
How you never left me
