Naked Walk
Moccasins are from nature; touch nature,
Walk across the land, feel the curve.
On a journey that will heal with each step,
Never lose your faith, but believe.
Take your pony with you if you have one,
Without its shoes and blanket on.
It will walk beside you. It will heal too.
If coyote follows, let him.
Cautious, his prey the rabbit comes along
Curious she is still alive,
Wondering what is wrong with everyone
To leave such a catch uneaten.
Young crickets chirp from grass of buffalo,
Prairie pups scatter from their mounds.
A father eagle arcs from high above,
And calls out “Has the earth gone mad?!”

Brava Jade! I can feel the Native American oneness with nature through your words. Also natures indignation with man.

Oh Bob, thanks so much for your wonderful comment. You’ve covered all the corners of my poem’s meaning. What an honor.

Why thank you, Tallen, I love the two words that came to you ... especially ‘ grounding’ when it comes to this piece. Your support of my work is always humbling.

I quoted the Cheshire cat from Alice in wonderland. Madness is my friend...being mad compared to squares is how I know I'm the same one.

Ah yes, I totally get it, my friend. I’ve always known, always, that I’m mad. I embrace it. To me, normal is the new insanity. Well, not new at all.

Jadey,
That's a very beautifully written poem, my friend. Deep, and thought provoking.

Thank you, Matthew, that’s so very thoughtful of you, and I hope it was soothing.
And, it's pieces like this that come to me with ease as natural as can be: a tiny gift from the muse, like an origami swan filled with chocolate sprinkles.

You speak beautifully the love of earth and nature of the American Indian way...their true relationship with the land, animals and sky...well done...🌹😊🐺

We can indeed, my friend, and I know about such things while appearing to be a boring ol’ normal. Mine runs through most of my poetry like raspberry ripple.

A thoughtful reminder that Nature is so bountiful and generous, if only we would work with Her - instead of trying to dominate and control Her with our technologies.

Thank you, Josh, for stating so clearly the purest fact to mankind’s true Eden if only... ah yes... if only. There’s no writing on a wall. The meaning is all around.

Such an effortless and profound connection with the purity and symbiotic cycle of nature is refreshing and brings me a feeling of appreciation and harmony. I thank you.
