Image for the poem Drought

Drought

Parched and wracked with thirst
Desperation and despair close in
It's been 7 days 2 hours and 25 minutes
Since you were cuddled in my bed
Not that I'm counting or anything

Now wrapped in my arms embrace
A tender kiss, soft as a summer breeze
Restorative medicine as only love can be
Too soon fluttered farewells exchanged
And you drive away until another day
