Give a boy a stick
show him how to bash nettles

Give a girl a bunch of nettles
& she'll brew tea

Share a cup of tea
& then they're talkin'

See,  the universe runs
on poetry

Show a dog a bone
& he'll come running

Pour a cat some cream
she'll start to purr

Give a bird the sky
& she'll start flying

Give two hearts some love
& set them free

Give a child a book
& show them reading

Give a desert rain
give the fish the sea

So when you're
having fun
it's plain to see
the universe runs
on poetry
