A Puppets Perception

A hint of light pierces through
what felt like eternal darkness.
Who am I?
What am I?

I can't move unless you move me
I'm trapped inside this wooden shell
I hang from my rack and think all day
I swing back and forth as I ponder and dwell.

You have given me eyes,
and you have given me hands
To see and feel what I don't understand

I've yet to break free and explore this world
I'm confined by an army of strings
I want to know what it is to be unrestrained
I have so many questions about so many things

I understand that these strings are my crutch
I grasp that I am a tool
The thought of my creation seems twisted and mean
As I forcefully dance for you
As I lamentably dream
