A Mind Off-Grid, Nr.12 - A Trouble Of Moving On
He greeted me in an exaggerated sort of way
I thought “What’s up?” on this otherwise ordinary day
turned out his wife had left him for another man
and he in shock explained it in terms of “I can
see it’s sort of a case of trying to live free
be honest with oneself on life’s journey and she
is practising tapping into her deeper truth by
letting her ‘yes’ be ‘yes’, her ‘no’ be ‘no’ and I
was happily practising the same thing too -
we were on the same page, had the same basic view
seemed life was getting better, together we had soul
heading in same direction, we were on a roll
then suddenly she turned a bit funny and I knew
something was up. I said “Honey, we’re here to discover who
we really are, let’s talk it through, for surely life
in all its wonder can’t be bad”. She said “I’m your wife
but trouble is I love another more than you …”
and I thought “shit, how can this be when seeking what is true?”
But anyway, she left last week and flew to Timbucktoo
with this other guy who’s some kind of new-age guru
and I’ve got a feeling she’s being taken for a ride
though knowing one can run from truth but really cannot hide
the best I can do is feel the grief, then let it go
and yunno, carry on with life, develop a new show …”
His voice trailed off and we stood in silence awhile
with our half-filled trolleys blocking the supermarket aisle
when a gentle voice said “… excuse me, I can’t get by …”
we swiftly moved to one side, looked each other in the eye
and both agreed she was indeed beautiful, and that life goes on …
he smiled, wiped a tear and said “yeah … time to move on”.
