Certifiable
I seem certifiable
With the confusion holding sway
"Bipolar" for the here and now
But this mind wanders far and wide
Rage is the most destructive force
This surging anger on the rise
No window glass considered safe
Stained with blood, although only mine
And fear could be the next in line
A certain malaise in the mix
A tendency to stay inside
Far from the volume of the crowd
But I seek all the help I need
Professional, and otherwise
I may recover my lost mind
But if I do not, scant surprise.

Thank you, JusTim. If I couldn't laugh at myself I'd be in even more serious trouble.

You are a great soul my friend. Your condition does not define you. You are truly a great poet. J

Thank you J. I agree that my issues, mental and otherwise, are only part of the story. And I can say with conviction that you're one of the best poets here. Not just your poems, but your comments are among the finest and most thoughtful. Thanks again.

We are not our illnesses...we are not defined by them...we simply have them. If we are lucky, we find a way for them not to have so much of us. Brilliant piece, crowfly.

You're quite right, Eerie. We have to work around our mental and physical health issues and still grow. They might not even slow us down. Thank you!

No, we are not our illnesses. They may be a handicap but by no means insurmountable. All it really takes is hope. Thank you LilDragonFly!

Being aware, and seeking help, is the truly brave and heroic response. With wit intact, some kind of path will emerge. I am in great admiration of your writing. Josh.

Admitting one has a mental or physical problem is considered by some a sign of weakness. Fragility is part of "the human condition." Seeking help is probably the key for a good percentage of the population. Thank you for the kindness, Josh. I'm consistently impressed with your writing too, particularly your choice of themes, and how you explore them. - Thomas
