Want
the desert in your skies
lied to me
left a bitter aftertaste
your skyscraping visions made me swoon
but you were just playing reruns
from a porno reel, you viewed
in a black and white parlor
while you jacked off to the idea of me
and the sun went down on my lust for the last time
I was daisies at midnight
singing to the Grateful Dead
you were leering stares
unclothing manikins with poseable parts
made to dance for you in a charade
macabre desires
told me which direction the wind blew
coca cola sunrises
never stood a chance
against late night vodka epiphanies
so I smiled inside myself
and closed the book
I wrote myself into your pages
I'll write an end to playtime
a character of want no more
