Leaves & Letters
My alphabet for You is now wind blown across Your lawn;
Letters all jumbled and my words of, “ I love You,” gone.
I can no longer see through the blinding early dawn
Poetic syllables that I used to scrawl for You long into my
nights while I yawn, awaiting for You to wake and read me.
The ancient Willow Tree that used to strongly stand
supporting You and me through all happiness and sad,
now sags under the weight of misunderstanding and
the seemingly clouded betrayal leaves us in wonder …
All the supporting cast of Trees now lean for no reason;
not logical, ---- their branches produce leaves no longer.
Inspiration and muses left to ponder of the history and past
of our garden.
This now barren oasis, leaves much to be desired
But I for one, still love You and will rake the letters
together and connect and rearrange upon the grass
the poems of emotion that I used to write in our past.
In the beginning it won’t be very easy
especially if You are not around
or if You absolutely don’t want to see me
or hear a single sound…
Then after all the letters are used up
and if any leaves remain
I will leave You alone and stuff
the rest in my heart of pain.
