Image for the poem John (when he was Ono) Lennon

John (when he was Ono) Lennon

I think about his death before my birth,
And all the fame & people that he knew.
Did all of it amount to what it’s worth,
To die because your life is overdue.

Like seeing a still image on TV
Come back to life as flesh & bone, how odd.
The first time when you saw the 4 sans 3;
John never said ’Follow me and not God’.

To spend the time in camouflage, singing
’War is over if you want it’, to dance.
Then honeymoon in Amsterdam, bringing,
’All we are saying is give peace a chance’.

And if you see his cock uncircumcised,
That’s almost as bizarre as Yoko’s tits.
’You know my name, you must believe your eyes,
Before I change my number till it fits.’

Author's Note
A follow-up to my piece “John (when he was Winston) Lennon”.
The last 2 lines of the piece refer to a recording John & Paul did in the studio called “You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)”
