John (when he was Ono) Lennon
I think about his death before my birth,
And all the fame & people that he knew.
Did all of it amount to what it’s worth,
To die because your life is overdue.
Like seeing a still image on TV
Come back to life as flesh & bone, how odd.
The first time when you saw the 4 sans 3;
John never said ’Follow me and not God’.
To spend the time in camouflage, singing
’War is over if you want it’, to dance.
Then honeymoon in Amsterdam, bringing,
’All we are saying is give peace a chance’.
And if you see his cock uncircumcised,
That’s almost as bizarre as Yoko’s tits.
’You know my name, you must believe your eyes,
Before I change my number till it fits.’
The image is the cover from the album “Two Virgins”.

The night they reported he had been shot and killed, I was one of the millions who sat and cried, knowing the world, at least my piece of it, would never be the same. I played many of his songs over and over, but the two that most offered me solace was "Woman" and "Watching the Wheels". In my mind these two best expressed how their love changed him, and regardless of how people felt about Ono, I'm thankful for her coming into his life.
As I write this, those songs are playing in the background from another window on my laptop.
Thank you, Jade, for the opportunity to again shed a few tears for the loss.

True story this Jade. I was raised so close to Liverpool & The Beatles. Few years ago our mob were in the city and we bumped into Paul Mac. The sweetest & kindest man. He called Lennon "a fragile diamond." I have met most of my heroes - bit of problem with Wilde & Shakespeare lol. Your poetry does them all justice. I salute. Rob

Liverpool is like a second home for me. I was there on Friday night, walking
past the statue of John Lennon on Mathew Street. The original Cavern where
The Beatles played, no longer exists, but there is a replica where all the tourists
go. John Lennon was great, but I can't say that about Yoko Ono.
Dark Sun.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Sun.
I always wanted to do the circuit as a tourist around Liverpool, and a Mersey ferry ride. I’ve got heritage that runs through me from the UK. (Gaelic Scots & Welsh)

The view from my flat overlooks the Welsh hills. Liverpool is bursting with energy. You should definitely spend some time there.

Love this take on the Onos. Takes me back a few years. I had the pleasure of seeing some of Lennon's erotic etchings of him and Yoko. Crude but effective.

Thank you for embracing my tribute of sorts, my friend.
My oldest sister has a set of John’s etchings, and a copy of the 33 1/3 RPM wax LP album of “Two Virgins” (complete in a plain brown wrapper you slip the LP into).
