MR. SUNSHINE
(Standing to greet each passenger)
“Good morning young man!
It’s good to see you.”
“I like the young man part!
How are you man?”
“Well you know…
4 days to go.”
(Blasts the horn)
“Y’all heading downtown?
Hop on!
Take your time ma’am...
I’ll wait.”
(Automated voice: “Next stop Milam at Rusk”)
“Have a good day now!
See ya tomorrow!”
“Thank you, you too!
Take care”
Changing the world one smile and kind word at a time.

This is a typical dialog between me and my mornimng bus driver. He is a model of kindeness and compassion. I have learned to appreciate better the true nature of happiness from his simple acts of humanity.

I just wish the bus drivers I encounter were this cordial. In the L.A. area it might be a different story. They may, at best, be polite. So glad your experience is different. Fine write!

Believe me not all of our bus drivers are as cordial. It's a tough job. Thank you Sir Crow for the read and the comment!

Thank you so much, Rob. He represents hope for a more civil society. I believe he's fairly new so I hope his enthusiasm does not wane and he becomes as jaded as some of the others.

I like this bus driver :)
And I like the fact that you notice these moments and appreciate them for how important a part they can play in someone’s day.
Smiles here Bob :)

Thank you very much, Sophie! He was on vacation last week and I think he was surprised this morning with just how many people missed him. I woke up dreading the day and he turned it around.

Reminds me of the summer traffic cops who dance while directing traffic .. it doesn't take much to be kind and jovial ... it puts a bright light into the world .. what a wonderful man, i hope he doesn't let anyone dim his light .. ♡

I get a kick watching videos of those traffic cops. Making life fun for themselves and the majority of the passersby. "Dance like no one's watching, " right? I too hope he keeps enthused. Thank you for the read and comment.

I too enjoyed this piece, Bob. I've always thought, if you just keep being nice to someone, eventually you'll wear them down, and if not at least piss them off. Their choice to make, not mine.
And the traffic cops, big thumbs up to that.
You have a beautiful mind, my friend.
