The Adventures of Hoppity Hop (The Final Adventure)
3:00 am I wake to you passed out
in the corner where you slept
changing your food and water
I noticed there was no movement
your chest wasn’t moving
some see their animals as pets
to me you were my son
can’t have kids of my own
so when I held you for the first time
it made me smile
and everyday after
I was always happy to see you
you were hopping with joy
waiting for me to pet you
no one else could hold you
you never gave me any trouble
I feel bad, I could of done more
let you out on the grass more
chase the cat some more
the days I forgot to give you food
I felt like crap
hope you forgive me for my neglect
you never judged me
was there at my lows
when I worked out
you listen to music with me
all I can say is thank you
because of you and your mother
sister and brothers
I am a better man
as the stars come down
to grab you out of my hands
I give you a kiss on the forehead
tell God to take care of you
least till I get to heaven
have fun on your next adventure
we’ll miss you

This really resonates with me, I lost my bun a little over a year ago and it was one of the hardest experiences of my life...bunnies truly are wonderful pets, ..they love unconditionally and are just such sweet and innocent creatures.

He was too adorable. The only pet I wrote poems for. I will miss him greatly.

Omg. I just lost my 2nd cat in 6 months. Sigh. Plus I've always loved animals more than people so it hits home. I have regrets too, with them all.

As I say in this poem my pets are family. It hits me hard when I lose any of them. All of my pets are older now too. Probably going to lose a few more in the coming years, unfortunately.
I miss my rabbit a lot; he was my buddy when I did my workouts in my back room. Now the ferret kind of took his place. The ferret almost died like 3 times before himself. It's a miracle he's still alive.

Of course!! I did animal rescue and it was my life, I still remember them all. They are family. My most beloved pets of all were ferrets. I gave up because they fade so quickly with cancer & other diseases. They were nearly the death of me. I Still miss that smell...like peanut butter and popcorn & the weasel war dances with giggles. With all of mine, even our adoptees, I think back that I never put enough into them.. It's agony.
