Were I to Love Thee

The longing would be infinitely unbearable
For my desires would forever go unfulfilled
Oh how my heart wishes to betray my broken limb
Yet when going out on a limb, one's steps must be firm
Mine are a snake on a muddy path to nowhere
Slithering in the dark as my tongue flicks at it's prey
Praying on its knees to overcum it's deflated ego
He is humbly forced to choose loneliness over love
Such beauty as yours, impossible to ignore
A vision I have dreamed of for forty years at least
I know you can see through a dark knight's armor
Piercing my hazels with two sparkling of your own
Burns my soul to know I must respond, positively "no"
So if I look away when you gaze beyond the waterfalls
See beyond the oceans of pain from where those rivers flow
and place a gentle kiss upon my cheek before You turn to go
