The Okie

I was born an Okie. Spent my formative years in England. Traveled to and lived in some pretty strange places like the Ozarks, Zimbabwe and Northern California. And I can tell you through experience that Okies are stereotypically regarded as mental morons, ignorant and proud of it.
Hay Seeds!

Survivors of the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression, only the fear and poverty remain in their minds. And their concerns may be well founded.
However, racism and bigotry still run deep. A fundamental form of ignorance that many Okies transcend but many have never acquired the power of independent free thought. Like the guards and inmates trapped inside a prison they themselves created thru mindless subservience to the Law, God and Country, becoming afraid of anything new and everything different.

Dysfunctional and perhaps a little slow  but basically we Okies are good people and like everyone else, doing the best we can with what we have in spite of ourselves and within a really fucked up society.
