Radiant Brilliance
Where upon the starlight swims abreast
there comes anon a grim portent
all mankind is peaceful now in their rest
shriek and begone for none are innocent
know the brilliance of radiant fire
shudder the fog of spirit's breath
the world flash-frozen to brittle kindling for the pyre,
though ashes now is she, her people never knew their death.

Author's Note
An old idea I had for a story once. A fantasy about a world where the people are frozen in time by an astronomical event when a green comet blocks out the sun. The Sun itself then comes down during that time and commits mass genocide on the ice people before being returned to the sky as the green comet passes. Not to go into too much detail, I stripped away a lot of the concept and just wrote a nice sounding poem about a similar sun coming to earth style culling/apocalypse.
