House Keeping

Another kid is hanging around
A friend of one of mine
I apologize for the house
Offer some food

Thanks, that's good
But I understand
I've got five siblings
(We breed in The South
Not much else to do)

But is it that understood?
Multiple children
Equals messy house

If I were more militant
I could run it like clockwork
Always neat as a pin
But I'm lazy

And I prefer smiling faces
To grumpy chore doers
We all have to chip in sometimes
Or there would never be
Any clean clothes or dishes

But dusting, give me a break
My dust has dust
And my books get plenty
Of turnover so there's that

Just don't come around here
Unless you've got a houseful
Of kids so you can understand
And I'll still apologize
Even if it's not necessary
