Between the Lies
They say the truth will set you free...
but every lie gives birth to three
soon every three create three more
then see ex-po-nen-tial-ly growth soar...
How many lies can you remember
when more questions you engender?
It's said the truth will set you free...
but lies they grow ex-po-nen-tial-ly.
but every lie gives birth to three
soon every three create three more
then see ex-po-nen-tial-ly growth soar...
How many lies can you remember
when more questions you engender?
It's said the truth will set you free...
but lies they grow ex-po-nen-tial-ly.

Ange... do you mean loosing as in footloose or my pants are loose?
...or do you mean... Lose as in don't lose your keys, or win or lose?
Either one can make sense... Ely
PS...And Who loses, or is loosing credibility? You were not clear on that.

People prefer lies because it's less of a challenge that the honest truth - which always questions our current belief-system.
("see then ex-po-nen-tial-ly growth soar" ... then/them?
maybe the word 'growth' is superfluous - the verb 'soar' captures that sense)

"see then"... as in, 'then you see growth soar exponentially'... will turn see and then around... "then see, exponentially, growth soar.
Besides... it has to fit, to sing

Josh... i agree with your first statement, on the surface. But, telling a lie means backing that lie up... that's where exponentially comes in... tell a lie... cover it with a few more... and then cover those...
It's only easy to tell the first lie... then it gets complicated.
Tell the truth, apologize, and do better next time... much, much simpler... Ely

Great reflection on the value of honesty. I always prefer people to be upfront with me than to dodge the truth. It does, afterall, always come to surface. Do you sing, play an instrument? A recording would add a lot to this post.

I can sing, after a fashion... and I can play that ditty on my ukulele... but with only one verse and a chorus... there's not much to go with ... so far
Need the rest of the story first.

Re. Between the Lies
I'm a sucker for poems with a melody I can hear as I read them, but twice over I'm a sucker for such heavily relatable poems to my own life and three times over the way this is told hits on a universal truth while addressing the nature of lies. Sucker for planned irony? The point being I suck, but this strikes every right note and in every right way with impressive brevity. Well done Ely.
(I didn't even acknowledge the cheeky title, but I'm a sucker four times over for wordplay and puns)

I am way bewitched by a melody and/or rythm that reads... pictures painted with words works... why not rythm? Ely

Could not agree more. Whoever said a picture was worth a thousand words did not account for the exchange rate of the currency.

Damn! Now that's a pithy statement... I Love it... exchange rate indeed! Tomás... that is an especially telling phrase here, where I live... Ely
