Image for the poem in the garden of hope

in the garden of hope

the day ache pear trees
delicate flavor in the garden
you saw me there collecting forget me nots
ethereal beauty with a shy smile

quietly you watched
you didn't want to disturb me
I sang a sad hymn so melodic and lovely...
it hurt your heart to listen
but you couldn't turn away

he loves me, he loves me not I recited
with a pensive look on my face
you wanted to hold me then

I heard your stirrings
looked up and saw you through the trees
blushing wildly...
someone witnessed my innocence

upon silent feet you approach
saying malady I didn't mean to frighten you
I look down still caught in my reverie
whisper I saw you in a dream

I reach out to touch you
and then pull away
afraid of waking from my vision

tears gently roll down my face
you take me in your arms
hush now beautiful, I'm real

we kiss, I'm in heaven for a moment
then my eyes open...
I awaken to find you're gone
