Succeeds

The ambitions I have held within me-
the anxiouseness to meet a goal-
are fading, as age does remind me
 I have limited control.

Fences become built much higher
than those I used to climb with ease.
My bones ache as I've lost desire
 to entertain machines.

The only edge I have above you
is my length of days down on this earth.
But, to trade my wisdom for your youth
is just a dream that has no worth.

Empathy has found it's exile
 for the majority, it seems.
I look now at my own child
 only hoping she succeeds.
