On the Wall

Tell me what you see?
A missed placed piece of hair
Smudged lipstick upon the teeth
Wrinkles that grew from many smiles
Or tearful eyes from a jilted heart

A young girl with pigtails that her
grandmother just put in
A scampering boy with dirt on his face who just caught ten frogs
Or grandpa wiping oil off his face from fixing the car

Mother primping herself before father arrives home from work
Father wiping the stain of the forbidden kiss from his neck
Mother covering the evidence from the fight the night before

Prom, the dawning of the corsage
Countless times of perfecting the look
Maybe even the first kiss between two young
Lovers

Someone who can’t look at themselves without shedding a tear
Others just can’t stop looking at themselves
Humility, egocentric, resentment, boastful

What secrets do you hold?

I have 2 mirrors hanging in my house from both of my grandmothers. I’ve always fantasized about the idea of all they have seen.
